Transitioning Your Wardrobe From Summer to Fall Style

Summer to Fall Style

This time of year is always a difficult one for me, style-wise. It is still quite hot outside. But I cannot help but start to crave rich colors and cozy knits and textures. Am I the only one here with this issue? So before I consider wearing a sweater and breaking a sweat, I try to think of ways to start transitioning my wardrobe from summer to fall style. This may include a soft, cashmere shell in teal. Or how about a new, dark-washed denim? Maybe I can wear a crisp, burgundy button down.

This year, I have developed a new obsession for African-waxed cotton prints. Holy color explosion! It’s the perfect addition for your summer to fall style. Usually, I am a somewhat-minimal, all-black everything type of woman. Black is tough, classic, and elegant. Black is forever the new black. However, the bold, beautiful, and dynamic African-waxed cotton prints that I have seen lately are trying to change my tune. The skirt shown above is available on Etsy from ChenBurkettNY. Chen Burkett NY has a variety of prints available in skirts, tops, and coats. There are also a few necklaces and sashes available. The designs are super feminine with full skirts in various lengths, mini to midi to maxi! Tops have bows and puffed sleeved details. Not to mention that the colors are just so darn vibrant.

I love the saturated colors of this skirt. I would choose to play up the drama with color matching pieces in various textures. I would pair it with the silk tee shirt, woven raffia clutch, and calf-hair flats (shown above). The statement gold necklace adds a glamourous touch. A little restraint keeps it as an appropriate summer outfit on its own. It will serve as a complete outfit with a little leather jacket once the air chills. Summer to fall style never looked so good.

Saturated colors + drama + regal touch + a restrained hand = my dream outfit. Saturday night, you have been warned! I’m coming out in my new look.
